Tools of the Trade (Lesson 6)–Rookies Learn Series

Welcome to Rookies Learn to Crochet!

Today we’re going to be learning about some tools of the trade. Come join me and learn about the yarn I recommend for beginners, the best tools to keep with you, and what hooks to look for.

You can also catch all the lessons (including videos) in the Rookies Learn to Crochet series right here on the blog by clicking here.

Each week I will present a new lesson, which will build on the skills and techniques we’ve learned from the previous lesson. By the end of this series you will have learned and (hopefully) mastered the following basic skills:

  1. Chaining,

  2. Single Crochet

  3. Adding a Border,

  4. Half Double Crochet

  5. Tools of the Trade

  6.  Double Crochet,

  7. Triple Crochet,

  8. Changing Color,

  9. Finishing off and Weaving in Ends.

Learning these basic stitches and techniques are essential in most crochet patterns. Once you have learned these, the sky is the limit as far as what you can create! We all learn differently, and I’m here to try and help in as many different formats as possible.

I hope that this video will help you get an idea of what kinds of tools you’ll want to keep with you. The essential tools are always a hook and yarn, but this is a little more all inclusive! If you have any questions, just let me know!
