Gunk- Be – Gone Crochet Face Scrubby Pattern

A Crochet face scrubby is among some of the simplest, quickest things you can make as a beginner crocheter. They don’t require much yarn, work up in less than an hour, and come in so handy!

This pattern includes instructions for a small hand-sized crochet face scrubby. Use soft cotton yarn to make these absorbent and useful. Face scrubbies can also be used for body scrubbers for the shower, kitchen counter wipes, and so many more uses! Really the possibilities are endless!

Yarn – For these scrubbies, you will hold two strands of yarn together and treat it like one very thick piece of yarn. Because of this, you can play with colors and come up with the perfect stash-busting combo!

These don’t require much yarn and it’s a great opportunity to use some scrap cotton yarn you have laying around. An entire skein can be used to make multiple scrubbies!

I used approximately 50 yards of some cotton yarn I had leftover from another project. 100 yards total because I double-stranded these scrubbies. (50 yards of each color)

Crochet Hook – Size I (5.5mm)

Yarn Needle & Scissors

Abbreviations:

DC – Double Crochet

Sc– Single Crochet

Hdc – Half Double Crochet

Sl st- Slip Stitch

Ch- Chain

To Begin in double-stranded cotton yarn:

Create a magic circle with this tutorial from Petals to Picot

OR ch3, sc in 1st stitch to form a ring. Ch2

Round 1: 12 DC in the ring join, ch 2  (12 st)

Next Round 2: 2 DC in each of the next 8 st leave the rest unworked, ch 1, turn

Round 3: 1 SC in each of the next 6st, 2sc in each of the next 4 st, 1 sc in each of the last 6 st. (20st) DO NOT TURN

Border:

Put 2sc in the same stitch where you ended the previous row,  and then continue around the bottom and outside putting 1 sc in each st until you get to the other side.

Put 3 SC in the last st, fasten off, break yarn and weave in ends.

At this point, you can be done with your crochet face scrubby, or you can make the handy strap attached on the back that helps you hold on to it.

Strap:

In double-stranded yarn, ch 12. Hdc in each st across (11 st)

Turn your work so the short side is on top, and put 2 sc across the end, then 3 sc in the 1st st of the starting row. Continue putting 1 sc in each st across the bottom. Put 2 sc in the last st, 2 sc across the top, fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing.

Attach the strap on both sides of the crochet face scrubby at the bottom with a whip stitch on each side. Break yarn, weave in ends.

And Voila! Your face scrubby is complete!

Make a stack of these and never run out of things to wash your face with again.

Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed this pattern for a free crochet face scrubby.
